What's in a name

I’ve just thought the name “bzhuo” (zhuo bo) in Chinese ping yin romanization is actually the Chinese reading of my Japanese name, 佐波 read in Japanese as Sanami. Now that I am in China, Taiwan to be more precise the Chinese reading is beginning to seem to sound better than the Japanese reading at times.
I first heard the Chinese reading form a former student of mine a Vietnamese-Chinese who was at the time living in Edmonton, Canada. I haven’t really used the name much until I went to Mainland China for the first time in October 2003. From then on I started using it more than my Japanese name and even my English name.! The Chinese culture seems to have made a new impression on me.

I started this new blog mostly because I needed a place to post content that is non-relevant to my website: Project H2O. I am often found in various parts of the world either teaching English as a Second Language, which I use as an in road to teaching Cross-Cultural understanding and human rights. To be honest I am not really interested in teaching English because the English teaching world is too “white” – please excuse the word “white” because I cannot think of better word at the moment.

Recently, I have been interested in the Taiwan first nations peoples and I am thinking of going over to Hualien on the eastern side (I think it is east, the mountainous side anyway) with some friends who are coming for a visit from Japan. The weather is good but if the trip is more than a 2 hour bus ride I have other plans. Getting out of the urban sprawls of Taizhong would definately prove worthwhile any day.
